Sunday: Jesus Answers a Rich Man’s Questions

A rich man asks Jesus how he can have eternal life. Jesus challenges him to obey all the commandments and then sell everything he owns and give the money to the poor. The rich man walks away sad, not wanting to sell his possessions (Matthew 19:16-30). Instead of focusing on getting more things or being better, we can follow Jesus. Jesus shows us he’s most important.

Here’s a video of the story we’ll be exploring in our Digging into the Bible in One Year lesson in Kids’ Church today at 11:30:

Our Bible Verse this Week: Philippians 2:3a

We’re starting to learn Philippians 2:1-4. Each week I’ll bold the part of the passage that we’re learning. Then at the end you can say all four verses to me!

1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Philippians 2:1-4

Remember this week: Jesus shows us he’s most important!
