Sunday: God Shows Mercy Even When We Don’t

Kids’ Church 11:30 am -12:30 pm EST

God tells Jonah to go to Nineveh and tell the people there that they’ll be destroyed because they are wicked. Jonah runs away instead and gets caught in a storm at sea. He tells the sailors to throw him overboard, and God sends a fish to swallow him. Jonah finally goes to Nineveh and tells the message. When the people change their ways, God shows mercy, but Jonah is mad about it (Jonah 1-4). God shows mercy even when we don’t!

Here you can watch the story we’ll be exploring today:

Our Bible Verse this Week: Philippians 2:2b

We’re starting to learn Philippians 2:1-4. Each week I’ll bold the part of the passage that we’re learning. Then at the end you can say all four verses to me!

1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Philippians 2:1-4

Remember this week: God shows mercy even when we don’t!
